THE LAB by Yotam Feldman – 2013, 60mn/ produced by Gum Films

Since 9/11, the Israeli arms industries are doing bigger business than ever before. Large Israeli companies develop and test the vessels of future warfare, which is then sold worldwide by private Israeli agents, who manipulate a network of Israeli politicians and army commanders, while Israeli theoreticians explain to various foreign countries how to defeat civil and para-military resistance. All based on the extensive Israeli experience. The fllm reveals The Lab, which has transformed the Israeli military occupation of Gaza and the West Bank from a burden to a marketable, highly profitable, national asset. The occupied territories in the west bank, serve a real-life lab for testing urban warfare and weapons. The film will follow three sales agents, ex-military men, who sell products of ‘the lab’ – weapons and technologies for fighting in densely populated urban areas in the occupied territories. The film will unravel how Israel has become a leading worldwide exporter catering to armed conflicts around the world and will question who stand to gain from this phenomenon.

H2: The Occupation Lab by Idit Avrahami and Noam Sheizaf – 2022, 94min/ Produced by Medalia Production

H2 is the name given to the eastern part of Hebron – the only Palestinian city with a Jewish settlement in it. Here, along a one-Kilometer Road, lies the holy Cave of the Patriarchs, where Jews and Muslims believe their common father, Abraham, is buried. This is where the massacre of 1929, known as “year zero” of the conflict, took place; where the Jewish settlement movement was born, and where the policy of ethnic separation was first implemented by the military. Through rare archive footage and interviews with Hebron’s military commanders, H2: The Occupation Lab tells the story of a place that is both a microcosm of the entire conflict and a test site for the methods of control Israel is implementing throughout the West Bank.
